DESCRIPTION: Caused by a Dipteron gall midge these globular, sessile swellings are green-red in colour and reach up to 1cm in width. Each gall can hold up to 20 chambers that contains a single yellow larva. Growth begins in May and is complete by late July with imagnies emrging in August. DISTRIBUTION: Fairly widespread throughout. HABITAT: Found on the petioles or mid-ribs of Lime leaves or less commonly on young shoots, flower stalks or in the fruit bracts.
